About Me

George Sakarellos is a prominent young conductor from Greece. Born in Athens, George is a graduate historical musicologist (National University of Athens), a postgraduate student in Orchestral Conducting (Boston Conservatory at Berklee under the guidance of Bruce Hangen), and has obtained certificates in Piano Performance, Counterpoint and Orchestration acknowledged by the Greek Ministry of Culture. At the same time, he studied with many conductors in Europe and worked as an assistant conductor with many professional orchestras including the Greek Municipality Orchestra, the Bohuslav Martinu Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra, the Georg Solti Chamber Orchestra, and the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra. George has studied and conducted works from the Classical era to the 21st century. In December 2020 he conducted, interpreted and recorded works by Greek composers, like the legendary Anestis Logothetis and Alkis Panayotopoulos (composer and former conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic) in their premiere performance.
